Parish Groups

The life of St Cuthbert’s Parish is greatly enhanced by various groups of parishioners coming together to further our work…

Church Stewards

Our stewards volunteer to welcome visitors to our church during our regular opening hours. If you have a morning or afternoon to spare every few weeks, you would be welcome to join us.

Events Group

The Parish Events Group plans various spiritual, fundraising and social events to build up our parish community. It meets informally every couple of months, usually over tea and coffee after the Sunday 10:00am Parish Mass. Anyone who has ideas or enthusiasm for events is welcome to join!

Justice and Peace

The Justice and Peace Group works to raise awareness of issues of justice and peace locally and around the world, and co-ordinates fundraising and other action to help alleviate injustice, poverty and the effects of war. The group is open to anyone who is interested, and meets every couple of months after the Sunday 10:00am Parish Mass.

Reading Group

The Parish Reading Group is a friendly group which meets every month or two in a parishioner’s house to discuss a book – fiction or non-fiction, explicitly religious or not.

Parish Pastoral Council

In any sizeable community there are always councils and committees! The most visible of these is the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), which exists to assist and advise the Parish Priest in the pastoral activity of the Parish – which covers a huge variety of what goes on at St Cuthbert’s, from celebration of sacraments to fabric of the buildings, and from music at Mass to parish parties!

Alongside the PPC there is also a Parish Finance Council, Building Committee and Liturgy and Music Committee; if you think you could offer your talents to one of these groups. For more information about those bodies, please do get in touch.
