Safeguarding

St Cuthbert’s Parish, as part of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, is committed to ensuring that children, young people and vulnerable adults can flourish in a safe environment which recognises their human dignity. We are committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church as we continue Christ’s own ministry towards the vulnerable and respond sensitively and compassionately to their needs in order to help keep them safe from harm.

In doing so we operate under the “One Church” approach of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and the direction of the Safeguarding Department of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.

As a parish we have two lay safeguarding representatives, Stephanie Brown and Mark Miller, who can be contacted about safeguarding concerns or queries. Their telephone numbers are displayed on posters at the entrance to the church premises, or they can be contacted through the parish office.

You can also contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Team on 0191 243 3305 or e-mail safeguarding@diocesehn.org.uk. Further information about Safeguarding can be found on the websites of the Diocesan Safeguarding Department or the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (for England and Wales).
