The Sacrament of Confirmation strengthens the gifts received in baptism through the further gift of the Holy Spirit and prepares us for the mission of the Christian life.
In the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle the Sacrament of Confirmation is usually conferred in school year 9 or later – so from the age of 13 or 14. Those in Catholic secondary schools will have studied Confirmation as part of their RE syllabus at the end of year 8.
The Confirmation programme at St Cuthbert’s is organised jointly with our neighbouring parish of the Durham Martyrs; usually in alternate years; keep an eye on the parish bulletin or articles on this website.
If your child is 13 or older and would like to be confirmed, please fill in the following form to register an interest, and we’ll get back to you. If you are a young person aged 13 upwards, please ask a parent/guarding to complete this form for you.
If you are an adult who has missed out on Confirmation, please see our page on Becoming a Catholic.
